Hello! I'm Dan McCourt, Manager of Marketing Communications and Global eMarketing at Southco.
We manufacture things like latches, hinges, electronic access solutions, and position control technology. Some may refer to these things as "widgets" and that's ok! However, I like to call them the "Unnoticed Miracles of Modern Science".
Granted that's a bit of a stretch, but they do solve a number of design challenges for our customers.
A little about me. I'm a mechanical engineer and have been with Southco for 14 years. I've worked in sales, IT, and marketing during my time here. I like to think of myself as extremely customer-centric. I must admit that I really enjoy it when a customer call gets routed to me by accident. Hearing about customer's products and figuring out ways that we can enhance them is a passion of mine.

Data center engineers dedicate sizeable amounts of time to designing enclosures, which includes specifying cabinet storage that will ultimately house the complete system. Factors such as size, materials, rack dimensions, security, heating and cooling options and the costs associated are all considered by engineers throughout the design, but when it comes to accessibility, it sometimes isn’t approached until the very end of the design process.

Sometimes a user or service technician requires full access to the interior of a cabinet or enclosure. If this is the case,
