A team of manufacturing managers and supervisors from Southco’s Concordville, PA headquarters put their assembly skills to the test this month – not just by putting together Southco products, but by building new bicycles for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern, PA.
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is the largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network in the U.S. working to develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. In support of their local chapter, Southco donated 2 girls and 2 boys bicycles to the organization as well as the time necessary to assemble them.
Southco volunteers turned the activity into a friendly competition by dividing themselves into 4 teams, who then competed to build the bicycles. As the teams worked to assemble the bikes, they were evaluated on many factors such as safety, quality, team engagement and clear directions.
The teams were rewarded by Southco for their hard work and dedication in the following areas:
- Quality and Safety
- First to Finish
- Leadership and Teamwork
Jennifer Carroll, Vice President at BBBS, visited the Concordville campus to accept finished bicycles and said she was not only impressed with the caliber of the bikes, but also with Southco’s commitment to helping children in the local community.
